Schamraum

Something turns out to be different than expected. Reality is not the way it’s supposed to be. I’m speaking, yet I didn’t want to say anything. Shame as a feeling of one’s own unworthiness, the impotence of the exposed self. It expresses itself less in words than in signs; it seeks non-presence and winds up with the obvious. The work tries to come spatially and acoustically close to the ambivalence of a moment of shame: the desire for secrecy and the immediate bodily reaction, cheeks blushing—the alarm of the skin.
