Channel Clayton—Mithören

“Channel Clayton—Mithören” is a podcast series by the Dept. Cultural Studies. In summer 2023, the production of urban space is at the centre of the new episodes. Along five different squares in Vienna, students of the MA Studies in Art and Culture acoustically reflect the socially constructed nature of city spaces. Listeners are invited to (re)discover Asperner Heldenplatz, Schuhmeierplatz, Hannah-Arendt-Platz, ZwideMu/Maria-Theresien-Platz and Elterleinplatz. Site-specific stories tell about mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion, the history of the places and the people who move there. The podcast questions the phenomenon of the city based on the characteristics of individual squares and in doing so unfolds social, political, societal and architectural structures.
