The Master projects in the Social Design Studio are realized as collaborative projects: Different experiences and insights from contrasting parts of the world areas and environments are incorporated into the implementations. The projects respond to real urgencies: The nearby Ukraine war, the precarious situation of Taiwan, the equally life threatening struggles for resources are reasons and topics of social design projects. Global crises are fought as information wars, and therefore, public spaces are contested in digital as well as in analog ways. The master projects of Summer 2023 develop methods which address the vulnerability of public spaces and the comprehensive significance of urban freedoms in an activist and thereby very practical way. The projects encourage us not to let democratic securities, the by no means self-evident access to resources such as water, to functioning urban infrastructure like waste management, to green spaces and quite fundamentally to common property, degenerate as privileges!
