Department website +In the WERK_LABOR – the central format in the first year of the DEX program – students engage in collaborative research based on an annual theme. Under the title (Against All) Expectations – Visual Tactility and Tactile Visuality, the 2024/25 focus was placed on the sense of touch. The students explored the tensions and contradictions between visual tactility and tactile visuality, investigated structures, manipulated materials, and developed tactile teleoperators. The resulting projects approach materials through physical contact, enter into a sensory dialogue with artifacts, and explore the complex relationship between appearance and haptics. WERK_LABOR TACTILITY presents works from the seminar groups and two joint workshops: objects, installations, sculptures, textile works, video pieces, collections, and more.
