The conservation and restoration of the furnishings of the Votive Church, which was designed by architect H. Ferstl in 1855 as a complete work of art in the neo-Gothic style, has occupied the Institute for many years. Research and restoration projects have focussed on the stone pulpit and the ‘Joseph's Altar’, among other things. The reorganisation of the museum in 2021 was one of the focal points of the conservation science. Work is currently underway to set up depots for textiles and goldsmith's work.
