We present a reflection on an innovative interdisciplinary course that won the ‘TRANSFORM - New Courses’ competition organised by the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the Johannes Kepler University Linz. We cannot really understand what we do not perceive. It is therefore important to sharpen our senses and to expand them with technical aids in order to be able to interact appropriately with a complex and dynamic environment. Our senses help our brain to perceive things, especially because they harmonise together. If left alone, a single sense can easily deceive us. However, through the interaction of the senses, the brain can process impressions and combine them with previously gained experiences. As part of the course, students learn playful methods and practices in practical exercises to sharpen and expand their senses. This enables them to perceive their surroundings more accurately and comprehensively and find solutions to the challenges of our time.
